(CNN) – Coca-Cola’s new “spiced” flavor has fizzled just six months after the beverage hit shelves.
The company said it is pulling Coca-Cola Spiced to make room for a new flavor set to launch next year.
Spiced Coke was the company’s newest permanent flavor.
It was created to attract Gen-Z drinkers who have a thirst for punchier flavors.
Spiced Coke blended traditional Coke flavor with raspberry notes, but it wasn’t actually spicy.
Coca-Cola didn’t offer a reason why it axed the drink, but confusion about the flavor and lack of awareness could have contributed to lackluster sales.
Coca-Cola said in a statement the company is always looking at what customers like and adjusting flavors accordingly.
