BLUEFIELD, W.Va. – The Concord Esports team are Grand Champions after winning the HUE Invitational at Harrisburg University.
The event took place on Sept. 22-24 at Harrisburg University and featured 12 teams that battled during the three-day tournament.
After making it through the early rounds, Concord found itself in the Grand Finals matched up against West Virginia University. (WVU) Concord defeated WVU 4-0 in their best-of-7-series and were crowned Grand Champions of the tournament.
The Concord Esports team also took home a cash prize of $2,500.
Concord battled teams like Penn State, Ole Miss, Michigan State, and more on their way to capturing the championship.
Concord University was the first public university in West Virginia to create an Esports program, doing so in 2019. Since then, Concord Esports have won 10 national championships. 9 of those for Call of Duty, and 1 for Rocket League.
