A puppy has been reunited with her relieved owners three days after going missing in Dumbarton.
Kirsty Reid and Robbie Duncan were left heartbroken after the nine-month-old Dobermann, Mafia, bolted from their car on Friday night near the Milton Inn while they were visiting the town.
The Carnoustie couple travelled to the town with their two-year-old son on Friday to pick up a new car and were due to stay until Sunday.
However, they extended their stay to find their beloved pup and a frantic search was launched with locals joining in the efforts to find her.
Posts were shared across community groups and residents took part in searches to find her.
On Monday afternoon, to the couple’s delight, a member of the public alerted them to her location after spotting the stricken dog stuck over the fence from their garden.
And in a dramatic rescue, Robbie hitched a ride in a passing car to reach her.
Kirsty said: “She was found between the railway and a fence.
“Robbie jumped in a random car saying ‘go go go, I need to get my puppy, she’s been missing since Friday’. That was on the dual carriageway and she was a four minute drive from them.”
Kirsty said a resident used a chainsaw to cut into the fence to free the pup, saying: “She was shaking in loads of brambles and thorn bushes.”
The couple have thanked the community for coming together to reunite them, telling them: “We can’t thank everyone enough, honestly. It’s absolutely amazing what everyone has done for us. All the shares, all of Dumbarton and the surrounding areas searching for her…. You are absolutely beautiful people.”
