PRINCETON, W.Va. – Former Princeton Police Chief Tim Gray was sworn in during Tuesday’s Mercer County Commission meeting to serve as a bailiff for Mercer County Circuit Court Judge Ryan Flanigan.

Gray recently retired as chief of police from the Princeton Police Department according to Princeton City Manager, Mike Webb. Webb says Deputy Chief John Howell has been appointed to serve as acting chief for the current time.

Gray is moving into the new position while a lawsuit still looms from Gray’s time as the chief of Princeton’s Police Department. The litigation is connected to a fatal officer involved shooting in 2022.
