Strictly Come Dancing champion Hamza Yassin hinted at a potential career shift away from the popular BBC show.
The Wildlife presenter, who clinched victory in the 2022 BBC dance contest alongside professional dance partner Jowita Przystal, made an appearance on the latest episode of BBC The One Show with Vinnie Jones and hosts Roman Kemp and Alex Jones.
Hollywood star Vinnie discussed his upcoming West End debut as he has secured a role in the Only Fools and Horses musical. Alex quickly shifted her focus to Hamza, curiously asking if he had ever contemplated a stage career.
Hamza seemed intrigued by the idea, teasing: “”You know what I would love to do. “She went on to say: “Jowita has given me tips but dancing is hard.
I don’t know about singing but I would love to. Imagine doing something like Lion King, reports the Express.
It would be amazing. I would love it.” Alex continued: “Strictly has just started, back on our telly last Saturday. ” Vinnie interjected with a joke: “Oh is it, I won’t be watching.
“The room erupted in laughter as Alex retorted: “Really, come on. It’s the beginning of Autumn.” Turning to Hamza she queried: “Now you were brilliant, fantastic and you won it amazing. Would you ever consider a bit of West End action like Vinnie?”
Hamza was keen on the idea as he teased: “You know what I would love to do.” Alex asked: “Oh really, would you?
“She went on to say: “Yes. Jowita has given me tips but dancing is hard. I don’t know about singing but I would love to. Imagine doing something like Lion King.” Alex interjected: “You are perfect” Hamza continued: “It would be amazing. I would love it.
Host Alex chimed in: “There are going to be people watching and your phone is going to go any minute now Hamza. “In another part of the show, Hamza shared what initially sparked his interest in wildlife photography. He began by stating: “It was a way where I could get my thoughts out to people and to share my love of the natural world to as many people as possible.
“Sir David Attenborough and Steve Irwin lit the spark in me and there is a wonderful image of Sir David Attenborough covered in gorillas and he is trying to do a piece to camera.
He concluded: “For me I was like I’d love to be him but If I can’t be him then I’ll be the cameraman that films him. So I picked up a camera when I was 12 it was my birthday present and now here I am. “.
The One Show airs from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer
