A pedestrian has been rushed to hospital after being “struck by a bus” near a shopping centre in Glasgow.

Emergency services raced to Auchinlea Road, near Glasgow Fort, after the alarm was raised at around 2pm on Tuesday. Officers were alerted to a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

Cops would not confirm whether or not the vehicle involved was a bus, however an eye-witness told Glasgow Live that a ‘woman was hit by a First Bus’. Images from the scene showed ambulance crews attend to the pedestrian next to a double-decker vehicle.

Their condition is currently unknown. The road reopened at around 3.30pm and police say their enquiries are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2pm on Tuesday, 24 September, 2024 we were called to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Auchinlea Road in Glasgow.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian was taken to hospital. The road fully reopened around 3.30pm and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the collision.”

First Bus has been approached by Glasgow Live for comment.
