Motherwell, Wishaw and Carluke MP Pamela Nash is encouraging those living with cancer, as well as their friends, families and carers, to take advantage of the Macmillan Information and Support Service in Lanarkshire.

Trained Macmillan Cancer Support volunteers offer a wide range of free emotional and practical support at a drop-in service at Wishaw Library, in the Houldsworth Centre, every Wednesday between 1.30 and 3.30pm.

As well as general cancer information and support in accessing services, volunteers are on hand each week for anyone who would like to talk through any issues or concerns.

Once a month, a Macmillan outreach table will be in the entrance to the Houldsworth Centre, with the next day being Wednesday, October 16.

A monthly outreach event is also held at the University Hospital Wishaw on the first Friday of every month, at the central stairs just beyond the main entrance.

Miss Nash said: “I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Gillian Harley,

Macmillan Services and Volunteering Coordinator, and volunteer Jane Russell at the weekly drop-in service at Wishaw Library.

“Macmillan volunteers’ dedication to helping those living with cancer and their families is clear, and I’ve no doubt the service and support they offer is really valued by those who need it.

“If you, or a relative or friend, needs some support or advice, please do attend the drop-in service at Wishaw Library for a warm welcome.”
