Amanda Holden has admitted she is “jealous” of her friends as her husband Chris Hughes “falls short” in one area of life.
On her Heart FM Breakfast show today (September 25), Amanda confessed that her husband is not a prolific cook. Instead, the 53-year-old is left to cook for her family, watching on in envy as friends’ husbands whip up delicious meals.
The conversation came about during a segment called the “parent trap” game where entrants Simon and Paula were quizzed with Mr and Mrs style queries, supplemented by their child’s answers, reports the Mirror.
When it was disclosed that caller Paula was the primary cook at home, admitting she’s the only one “who really cooks”, Amanda responded: “Same in my house Paula – it’s a disgrace.
“I’m so jealous of loads of friends who have husbands who sort of whip up wonderful dinners and stuff in the afternoon, it never happens here.”
The celebrity couple first crossed paths in Los Angeles back in 2003, but wouldn’t start their love story until the following year. Amanda wed Chris at Somerset’s St Margaret’s Church in December 2008, which was followed by grand celebrations at the upscale Babington House.
It is understood that former F1 racer David Coulthard played best man for the occasion. Living in Surrey’s charming village of Cobham along with their two children, Alexa and Hollie.
Amanda has lovingly referred to Chris as her “best friend” in a tribute marking their 15 years of marriage this past December. She also shared that daily “bicker” is part of their routine, but it’s the laughter they share that contributes to their joyful life together.
In an interview with OK! Magazine, she revealed: “The main secret behind a successful marriage is to have a bloody good sense of humour! Plus, I really fancy Chris.
“We’ll be eating dinner in a restaurant, he’ll go to the loo, then I’ll look up and catch a glimpse of a man and think he’s fit! Then I’ll realise, ‘Gosh, that’s my husband! ‘ I still fancy him.”
