Construction works to replace the roof at the Lanthorn Community Education Centre, Livingston are expected to be complete by the end of November this year.

The council has fully funded the project to remove and replace the existing roof deck at The Lanthorn Centre and Chapel Annexe, after significant structural issues were identified.

Construction firm Heron Bros were appointed as a new contractor in April, with the objective of completing the project as quickly as possible to allow user groups and the wider public to use the much-valued community facility again.

A full review of the status and condition of the building was undertaken, with an agreed scope of works put in place. Works have since been progressing well, and are on target for the completion date.

Remobilisation works will then take place to allow the different users groups to return to the Lanthorn as soon as possible. The pictures below show the good progress being made towards bringing the Lanthorn back into full use once more.
