JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. (Gray News) – Florida authorities say a missing teenager has been found dead at a popular beach after going missing over the weekend.

According to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, the body of a 15-year-old was found Monday at Ponte Vedra Beach after the boy was last seen swimming at Jacksonville Beach, about 4 miles north, on Saturday.

Authorities did not identify the minor but shared that the boy’s family had been notified.

WJAX reported there was a red flag warning issued for the beach area on Saturday due to dangerous rip currents.

The search efforts involved multiple agencies that included first responders from Jacksonville Beach and the U.S. Coast Guard.
