Anton Du Beke shared a candid three-word reaction with his wife upon discovering she was expecting twins.

The Strictly Come Dancing favourite recounted to Giovanna Fletcher on her Happy Mum, Happy Baby Podcast the emotional IVF journey he and his wife, Hannah Summers, experienced before welcoming their children, George and Henrietta.

Anton admitted feeling “stunned” by the news but didn’t shy away from expressing his shock to Hannah, despite being momentarily lost for words.

He detailed the moment during the scan: “And the fella’s there and he’s…a doctor! And he’s got the whatcha call it, where you stick it and you have a look around, the camera thing, the internal camera.”

He went on: “And he goes, ‘Ah; there’s one heartbeat’, and I go, ‘Where?’ And he’s fiddling around and then he goes, ‘Ooh; there’s another heartbeat’, and I was stunned. And I went…I say, it’s a rude word; I apologise and I went, ‘F**k me, babe’.”

Overwhelmed, Anton could only manage to tell her “well done”, while Hannah’s response was to ask if he fancied a trip to the golf club, prompting him to question: “Well, do you think I could?”.

In 2023, Anton, who first met Hannah at a golf club in 2011 and tied the knot with her in 2017, opened up about their fertility challenges, including his wife’s struggle with endometriosis.

On the Parenting Hell podcast, he spoke lovingly of Hannah, describing her as “practically perfect” and everything he had hoped for.

He remarked, “I thought she’d be an excellent mum, always knew she’d be a great mum but she couldn’t have children. I thought, ‘Isn’t it funny how nature works in mysterious ways?'” Anton spoke about the “sad irony” that the woman he believed “would be an incredible mum” was unable to conceive naturally. Nevertheless, the joyous pair eventually welcomed children through IVF.

Discussing the process, he shared how Hannah, the chief marketing officer at the mobile network security company AdaptiveMobile, went through “blood tests, injections every day”. The Strictly judge expressed his elation: “But as we had IVF we were able to have them in the end and I’m thrilled for me – because I’d have 100 [kids] by the way, because I love them.”

He added with admiration, “But I’m thrilled for Hannah because she is amazing at it.”
