A woman’s autumnal soup has been mercilessly ridiculed by the public, with many saying they’d rather starve than try the “unidentifiable mess”.

After submitting her soup to Facebook groupRate My Plate, Megan G’s “Delicious Hot Soup For Them Cold Nights” failed to impress users. The dish was met with nothing but criticism, with some comparing it to the remnants of food left in a kitchen sink plug.

Thousands of comments were posted under a photo of the controversial dish Megan has when the weather gets colder, with one user suggesting that the word “delicious” was working overtime for the meal. Another compared it to “what I clean out of my dishwasher filter” rather than a warming meal for a chilly evening.

One user quipped: “No, ‘unidentifiable mess in bowl’ does not constitute soup. So many lovely soups made very easily.” Another chimed in: “I think I’ve seen this on a Friday night in some shop doorway on the way home.” A third slammed: “Just looking at that catastrophe of a so called meal is giving me a cold night and I’m on holiday! “.

However, some were more optimistic about the dish’s potential, suggesting there might be more to it than meets the eye. “Honestly that could taste good,” travel vlogger Andy commented. “Having travelled the world a bit, some of the best soups aren’t the most well presentable.”

One critic opined that the dish was more “broth” like given its contents, stating: “Looks like vegetable stir fry soup but I do it with a cream and it has completely different colour, the one on the picture is more broth like.”

Other commenters branded the cuisine as downright dismal, although one humorously pointed out a positive. They quipped: “The fact that this soup is hot on a cold night is its only redeeming feature. Though to be fair I recently endured a bout of food poisoning and maintained a pretty constant hot temperature throughout the night whilst I was pouring out of both ends so maybe I’m being harsh.”
