The 58-year-old actor, best known for starring in films such as Unfaithful, S.W.A.T. and Taking Lives, was spotted taking a solo walk in Los Angeles, California earlier this week.
However, he looked noticeably different to his days of sporting thick jet-black hair as Olivier now boasts a short grey trim earning his ‘Silver Fox’ stripes. The actor looked focused and on a mission as he emerged from his car dressed casually in an Adidas sweatshirt, tiedye shirt and jeans.
It’s the first time Olivier has been pictured in some time with the actor largely shunning the Hollywood spotlight these days.
His movie roles have significantly slowed down from his heyday in the 00s with recent appearances including the TV shows Loot, Paul Apostle of Christ and Mars. The French actor currently has two projects in the pipeline; L’Inverno and Tigres et Hyenes, both of which are in pre-production.
It’s known that Olivier has faced turbulence in his private life over the past decade following his divorce from ex-wife Halle Berry. The Hollywood titans announced their split in 2015 just two years after tying the knot, with the divorce finalised in 2016.
They share son Maceo, born in October 2013, but their custody battle over the 10-year-old has been far from smooth.
In August, Halle, 58, filed to obtain sole custody of Maceo claiming that Olivier ‘refused to co-parent or communicate in a child-centered way’. In court documents obtained by People, the Monster’s Ball actress said she has made effort to address their son’s ‘educational challenges’ as she ‘fought for tutoring, an educational assessment and finding an environment that was suitable to Maceo’s needs’.
She claimed that Olivier has been ‘oppositional, unmoving and withheld his consent for years’.
The documents stated: ‘Because of Respondent’s opposition to any interventions whatsoever for years and because of Respondent’s prioritising soccer activities over Maceo’s educational and psychological well-being, Maceo’s educational and behavioural challenges worsened, and he continued to fall further behind in school.’
It added: ‘By refusing to communicate, withholding consent, or deferring decisions, he has effectively delegated to himself sole decision-making authority in violation of the parties’ Stipulated Judgment.’
A lawyer for Olivier told the publication at the time that he would be ‘responding to these allegations’ in the coming weeks.
In 2023, a court decided that Halle would pay her ex-husband $8,000 a month in child support, as well as an additional 4.3% of all income she receives over $2million.
Halle met Olivier on the set of Dark Tide in 2010, following her tumultuous split from ex-partner Gabriel Aubry – who she shares daughter Nahla, 16, with. They shared the news of their engagement in 2012, and tied the knot the following April, going on to welcome Maceo a few months later.
Announcing their split in 2015, the former couple said in a joint statement: ‘It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,’ they said in a joint statement at the time. ‘We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son.
‘We wish each other nothing but happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children’s privacy, as we go through this difficult period.’
