A new audio theatre production recorded live at the Theatre Royal in Dumfries is now reaching a global audience.

It is available for listeners worldwide to experience the immersive performance from the comfort of their own homes by accessing it through the theatre’s online store TRD+, which is managed and maintained by
The Grey Hill.

Written by a local playwright, Clive Williams, Wreckages of Trust, was performed and recorded at Scotland’s oldest working theatre by talented members of the Guild of Players, including Owen Kennedy, Eilidh Strachan, Chris Belford, Anne Aldridge, Andrea Medd and Barbara Lindsay.

And they have taken steps to ensure the audio theatre recording captures the rich acoustics and live atmosphere of the historic venue, enhancing the emotional depth of the story.

The gripping play, set against the backdrop of a tumultuous 1970s property market, weaves a powerful story of ambition, betrayal, and personal
reckoning.

It follows Leon, a young apprentice bricklayer, as he enters a risky business venture with Jamie, a wealthy homeowner whose property Leon is working on.

When the property market collapses, Jamie abandons the partnership, leaving Leon to face the fallout.

Amid the financial turmoil, Leon falls in love with Sue, a neighbour, but loses her when she leaves for college.

Over the years, Leon holds onto his anger towards both Jamie and Sue, only to discover that his own choices played a role in shaping his fate when Sue re-enters his life.

Writer, Clive, said: “I’d like to thank the cast of actors from the Guild of Players for getting the play up on its feet and offer special thanks to Chris Belford for suggesting it would work as a radio play, and for assembling the original cast.

“The audio experience allows listeners to feel as though they are right there in the audience, drawn into Leon’s world.”
