While chatting to the hosts, the presenter spoke about his iconic chat show which is set to return on Friday, September 27.

The star was asked If ever the show went ‘horribly wrong’ to which he explained that because of the style of the series, they mostly kept mistakes in.

‘The good thing about our show is that if anything goes wrong – it’s in!’

He then revealed that the only time he remembers a major cut being made was when one actor began crying on the couch – and it was simply too sad to keep in!

‘I remember Jon Voight once was telling a story about being young and he made himself cry – we cut that out!

‘Not on our show!’ he said as he wagged his finger ‘No tears on our sofa!’

The Graham Norton Show has been running since 2007, but the chat show host has been presenting his own talk show since the 90s.

Reflecting on his time when he began hosting in 1998, Graham revealed that he was more ‘spikey’ with guests who would sit on his couch.

He explained that he now prefers to allow the guests to be the funny ones, rather than making them the butt of the joke which was fashionable in the 90s.

He added that he now loves when he can sit back and let the guests talk to one another.

‘That is the bit that keeps me interested – on a good night there’s an alchemy and I’m just watching the couch all talk to each other,’ he told Cat and Ben.
