HILLSBORO, W.Va (WDTV) – A tornado touched down in the Hillsboro area of Pocahontas County Wednesday evening, according to the National Weather Service in Charleston.

The tornado occurred at approximately 6 p.m.

According to Pocahontas County’s Office of Emergency Management, there have been no reports of damage or any injuries after the storm.

“This was a strong system and included a confirmed tornado with well-developed rotation,” officials said. “Thankfully, no homes or people were in its path.”

The National Weather Service and the Pocahontas County OEM will be investigating the tornado’s path and strength, getting aerial video and images of the path as soon as weather and equipment permit, they said.
