A man and a woman were injured following a serious crash in Irvine yesterday afternoon (Thursday, September 26).
The driver of the car, a 24-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where is in a critical but stable condition while the passenger, a 27-year-old woman, was taken to Crosshouse Hospital with serious injuries.
Towerlands Road in Irvine was closed for around six hours yesterday after a red Vauxhall Corsa crashed into a tree between the B7081 and Heatherstane Way, Irvine.
Police are now appealing for information following the incident which occurred at around 1.35pm.
Sergeant Brian Simpson said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident. I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash, stopped to assist, or who has any information that may help us to please contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was driving on Towerlands Road round the time to review any dashcam footage and get in touch if it holds anything relevant.
