Good Morning Britain’s Richard Arnold, 54, had to hilariously set the record straight after his interview with Sophie Turner, 28, sparked a bit of an unexpected reaction from viewers.

During Friday’s episode, after showing a pre-recorded chat with the Game of Thrones icon about her role in the upcoming ITV series Joan, Richard clarified with a laugh: “I was wearing trousers! Some people have thought I’d done a… they looked a little bit flesh! ” His choice of nude pink trousers led co-presenter Kate Garraway to quip: “It was quite flesh tone!”

The segment aired as Sophie opened up about being “swept away” by emotion while portraying teen mum and later notorious gangster Joan Hannington in the ITV drama Joan, amidst her divorce from musician Joe Jonas.

Sharing two children, Willa, four, and Delphine, two, with the Jonas Brothers sensation, the star found herself relating deeply to her character during what turned out to be a contentious split, with tensions flaring over custody of their daughters.

Sophie, famed for her portrayal of Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, opened up about the emotional journey she experienced while filming Joan, admitting that being “swept away” by emotion made it easy to shed tears on cue. She shared: “I’m a Pisces. I’m very emotional. And I’m a mother, so anything to do with children and it just flows out. I think sometimes when you are doing a show like this and there’s diamonds and glamour, you get swept away by it all.”

The actress described the “remarkable” ‘true’ story of jewel-thief Joan, dubbed The Godmother, which explores the character’s multifaceted life. The series tracks Joan’s tumultuous escape from an abusive husband, her struggle with homelessness and poverty, and her eventual descent into crime after taking a job at a jewellers.

Sophie delved deeper into her character’s psyche, saying: “There really is so much to her mother, lover, liar, thief,” and emphasized: “You have to remember that this is to provide a solid and stable life for her daughter so she can get her back. And it’s really a heartbreaking story.”, reports the Mirror.

Joan, now 68 and leading a normal life, attended the premiere and praised ITV’s casting choice, humorously stating she’s “jealous” of Sophie’s younger, “slimmer” appearance. She expressed her approval: “They couldn’t have got anyone better so kudos to them. I hope they get the recognition they deserve.”

Elsewhere on GMB on Friday, Kate delivered a snub to former co-star Ben Shephard who left earlier this year to present This Morning.

During a segment highlighting a ‘cat crisis’ as more people are now abandoning their pets due to costs, Kate said: “They’re making me sort of broody” after seeing a clip of kittens at an RSPCA centre. Adil suggested she should get some.

“I think you should name them after your fellow GMB presenters,” he added, reports the Mirror.

“I’m going with Sean, that’s it, sorted,” said Kate as she looked over at Sean Fletcher who was presenting the news headlines. Adil continued: “You could have a little Susanna, a Ben, a Richard, an Ed..”

“Not Ben,” retorted Kate, waving her arms. “He’s out now, he’s out! ” Adil added: “Get a tortoise, call him Ben and leave him outside.”

GMB is on ITV weekdays at 6am and on ITVX
