The longstanding rift between King Charles‘ sons, Prince William and Prince Harry, has been a constant source of media attention.
Prince Harry himself admitted that he and his elder brother were “on different paths”. Many reports, including details from Harry’s memoir Spare, suggest the brothers’ bond began to fray when Harry’s romance with Meghan Markle rapidly progressed.
So much so, that a statement was released on behalf of Prince William to refute allegations that he was “deeply unhappy” about Harry publicly acknowledging his relationship with Meghan.
In 2016, Kensington Palace issued a statement asserting that Prince William fully comprehended his brother’s concerns about privacy. This followed a heartfelt plea from Harry for respect towards Meghan‘s private life.
“The Duke of Cambridge absolutely understands the situation concerning privacy and supports the need for Prince Harry to support those closest to him,”His girlfriend, Meghan Markle, has been subject to a wave of abuse and harassment. Some of this has been very public,” the statement read, reports OK!
It continued: “The smear on the front page of a national newspaper; the racial undertones of comment pieces; and the outright sexism and racism of social media trolls and web article comments.
“Some of it has been hidden from the public – the nightly legal battles to keep defamatory stories out of papers; her mother having to struggle past photographers in order to get to her front door; the attempts of reporters and photographers to gain illegal entry to her home and the calls to police that followed; the substantial bribes offered by papers to her ex-boyfriend; the bombardment of nearly every friend, co-worker, and loved one in her life.”

Over the eight years since their first encounter, the couple have tied the knot and expanded their family with two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The intense scrutiny over their decision to step down from senior royal duties in 2020 has been relentless, with every move making headlines.
As they navigate their new path away from the Royal Family, Prince Harry is currently undertaking a solo trip to New York amidst the UN General Assembly High-level Week and Climate Week, marking a significant period for him.
Climate Week is set to continue until September 29, with High-level Week having taken place from September 23 to September 27. Prince Harry will be using this time to “advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives,” according to an official statement.
His itinerary in the city includes engagements with African Parks, The HALO Trust, The Diana Award, and Travalyst, as confirmed by a spokesperson. The Diana Awards also announced that he will be attending an event marking the charity’s 25th anniversary.
Furthermore, Harry will be “furthering the work of The Archewell Foundation,” the non-profit organisation he co-founded with Meghan Markle.
