A pensioner was rushed to hospital after his bicycle was involved in a horror road crash in East Kilbride.

The crash happened on Greenhills Road, near to the Auldhouse Road junction, at around 3pm on Wednesday, September 25.

The 76-year-old cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment.

The 86-year-old female driver of the car was reported to the procurator fiscal for road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3pm on Wednesday, September 25, police became aware of a road crash involving a cyclist and a car on Greenhills Road, East Kilbride.

“The male cyclist, aged 76 was taken to hospital for treatment and the 86-year-old female driver of the car was reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.”
