Strictly Come Dancing has witnessed some ‘very smart matchmaking’ according to an expert as they pinpoint the successful and less effective pairings in the ballroom.
The hit BBC programme made a dazzling comeback earlier this month with the launch episode showcasing not one, but two stunning performances from the pros, reigniting the excitement for Strictly fans before unveiling the pairings for the 2024 series.
Saturday night’s episode (September 21) saw the contest truly sparked into life as all 15 new Strictly couples took to the floor for their debut performances.
They took to the iconic ballroom marking the beginning of the competition as they faced feedback and scores from the panel of judges – Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, head judge Shirley Ballas, and Anton Du Beke.
Renowned dance specialist Dr Jill Rose Jacobs has now revealed her insights on which contestants appear to forge the strongest bonds – and which may be struggling to connect so far, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Speaking to the publication representing Heart Bingo, Dr Jill remarked: “There has been very smart matchmaking in the show, the best connection in the team is Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe. To me, they seem like brother and sister, they get on so well, what a brilliant pair they look.”

She added: “Pete Wicks and Jowitza Przystal – they need to get a room, this is the sexiest couple of the competition! What a beautiful couple they are together, the size and dimension of the two of them they are perfect sizes to dance together.”
Dr Jill continued: “JB Gill and Amy are another that look to be a match made in heaven, that men can really dance. He looks as if he has had classical dance training, even though I am sure that he hasn’t.”
She added: “I think Tasha Ghouri and Aljaz Škorjanec don’t look a great couple, their first meeting looked very awkward, she seemed as if she was struggling to embrace him, she was one of the favourites to win the show before and I’d have real doubts after seeing the two of them together.”
The expert also commented on EastEnders actor Jamie Borthwick and his dance partner Michelle Tsiakkas, stating she “doesn’t get any kind of chemistry from the pair of them at all. You need that to be born out in your dance, it’s so important.”
