BBC Breakfast’s Saturday show brought another episode to the table, with Charlie Stayt joined by stand-in presenter Nina Warhurst.

The programme had a light-hearted moment when Nina couldn’t help but crack up over a Bridgerton-themed bash that turned out to be a huge letdown for fans in the States.

Charlie and Nina broke the story to viewers that some were left fuming after shelling out big bucks for what was promised to be an extravagant Bridgerton ball in Detroit.

Setting the scene, Charlie said: “Some US fans of the Netflix show Bridgerton have said they were scammed out of hundreds of dollars after they paid to attend a Bridgerton-themed ball in Detroit.”

Viewers then saw pictures of extremely unimpressed guests who looked thoroughly bored, lounging on the floor and glued to their mobiles, reports the Mirror.

Giggling, Nina chimed in: “Well it looks wildly disappointing, it looks very opulent. They posted on social media about soggy noodles.”

Graphic images of unsatisfying meals continued as she added: “Look at those chicken, ooh plastic forks, that’s not very Bridgerton.”

The event organiser relayed to Seven News Detroit that they are aware that the extravagant affair failed to meet expectations for some, and they are actively working to remedy those complaints.

Nina burst into laughter once more, prompting Charlie to remark: “That is quite funny isn’t it?” as Nina fought to regain her composure.

The duo quickly switched gears to chat with Matt Taylor for the weather update, as Charlie urged: “Cheer us up, they need some cheering up.”

Viewers tuning in were fast to notice Nina’s reaction, swiftly taking to X, previously known as Twitter, to unload their thoughts.

One user commented: “#bbcbreakfast Nina’s lost it,” followed by a tears of joy emoji, while another visibly not impressed fan wrote: “That is the worst forced and fake laugh I have ever seen.”

Another individual questioned: “I don’t understand why she was laughing so hard at others being ripped off!”

And yet another dissatisfied viewer queried: “Why is she shouting???? #bbcbreakfast.”

Charlie normally anchors the Saturday programme with usual colleague Naga and also appears on Thursdays and Fridays, but there was a striking absence of Naga.

In her place was Nina, who has stepped into the role when the principal anchors are away or unable to present since 2019.

BBC Breakfast airs from 6am on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
