A Strictly Come Dancing host expressed her concern for DIY SOS frontman Nick Knowles after he suffered an arm injury.
The nation’s favourite dance show made a comeback on the BBC last week, ushering in a fresh batch of stars eager to master Latin and ballroom moves.
Entering the dance floor fray was none other than TV stalwart Nick Knowles, who joined forces with professional dancer Luba Mushtuk. Right from the start, the 62 year old delighted fans with his enthusiasm for the renowned BBC contest.
Tragically, Nick found himself in a bind earlier this week when an attempt to switch out a car tyre resulted in a bicep injury, casting some uncertainty over his future in the competition.
Despite the mishap, Nick has remained in the contest and geared up to dazzle with an American Smooth set to “Parklife”, reports the Mirror.
Before his performance, show co-host Claudia Winkleman didn’t hide her worry for Nick’s well-being, asking him during a segment, “Now I’ve got to ask, how is your arm? “.
With good humour, Nick responded: “It’s good thank you very much. Getting stronger every day and my mate texted me just before the show and said ‘you may only have one arm but you’ve got two left feet so you should be alright.'”.
Following his quip, both Claudia and the crowd shared a chuckle. Claudia then turned her attention to Luba, complimenting her by saying, “And well done you for the brilliant adaptation, we cannot wait to see your dance.”
Luba expressed her gratitude for the praise as Nick quietly remarked that she had been “unbelievable”.
When they finally took to the floor for the American Smooth, the judges were impressed with his efforts.
Craig Revel Horwood described it as “a bit ploddy” but acknowledged Nick’s “potential”, which he felt shone through in the performance.
Shirley opted not to critique his footwork, instead saying: “What you did for 16 hours is absolutely amazing”, referencing the last-minute changes made due to an injury.
Consequently, Nick and Luba earned a commendable 21 points for their American Smooth.
The stakes are rising on Strictly Come Dancing as the show prepares to bid farewell to one couple this weekend.
Last week marked the season premiere where no eliminations occurred, allowing the couples to focus solely on garnering judges’ scores.
This week, however, will see a shift as the two pairs with the lowest votes face potential elimination, leaving their fate in the hands of the judges.
Audiences are left wondering who will dazzle and who will be the first celebrity to depart the dance floor in 2024?
The much-anticipated results will be announced tomorrow, Sunday, September 29, featuring a special performance by Ezra Collective with Yazmin Lacey.
Strictly Come Dancing continues every Saturday on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
