Foo Fighters are rumoured to be taking an indefinite break following the revelation that frontman Dave Grohl has fathered a child outside his marriage. The 55 year old former Nirvana drummer, who has been married to actress and film producer Jordyn Blum since 2003 and shares three children with her, admitted to having a baby with another woman whose identity remains undisclosed.

Despite the turmoil, Grohl is determined to regain his family’s trust, even if it means sidelining his band Foo Fighters while he addresses his personal issues.

The group unexpectedly withdrew from their scheduled performance at the Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut, cancelling just three days before their Sunday slot. On Thursday, they released a statement on X: “Foo Fighters will no longer be appearing at this weekend’s Soundside Music Festival. Please check the festival website for more information.”

If the gig had proceeded, it might have been their last for some time, as insiders claim the band has chosen to pause. A source disclosed to The Sun: “The band need time to be with their families and focus on regrouping.”

The source continued, explaining the reasons behind the hiatus: “It’s been a turbulent few years, with the loss of their best friend, drummer Taylor Hawkins, the death of Dave’s mum and now the birth of his new child. He wants to be at home and focus on earning back the trust of his family.”, reports the Mirror.

According to the insider, taking a break is seen as the best course of action for everyone in the band “collectively”.

The Mirror has reached out to representatives for Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters for their input. Fans were taken aback by Grohl’s announcement, who is affectionately termed the ‘nice guy’ of rock.

I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We’re all grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

Despite the shock waves sent through his fanbase with this intimate disclosure, those close to the situation weren’t surprised.
