A huge drugs farm worth up to £1.8million has been discovered in Irvine town centre.

Police raided the Bridgegate premises on Wednesday afternoon and unearthed the massive cannabis cultivation.

And officials reckon the plants have an estimated street value of between £1.2m and £1.8m.

Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences.

The trio, aged 38, 30 and 29 were set t appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, September 27.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with drugs offences in Irvine.

“Around 12.30pm on Wednesday, September 25, officers discovered a cannabis cultivation in the Bridgegate area with an estimated street value of between £1.2 and £1.8million.

“The men, aged 38, 30 and 29 are appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Friday, 27 September, 2024.

“Reports were submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
