Gov. Hochul has not yet signed the Climate Change Superfund bill — likely due to concerns that this bill will increase New Yorkers’ energy costs. However, concerns about the costs of the bill — which would fund the state’s climate transition by imposing fees on the biggest polluters, are unwarranted. Instead, vetoing this bill would come at a high cost to all New Yorkers — for generations to come.
