TAZEWELL, Va. -Strong winds from the remnants of Hurricane Helene caused a tragic incident in Tazewell early Friday, September 27,2024.
According to the National Weather Service storm report, the Tazewell County 911 call center received a call that a man was cleaning debris from his driveway when a large tree fell on him, resulting in a fatal injury.
The exact time of the accident remains unclear. The victim’s age and gender are still unknown as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Officials urge residents to exercise caution as any wind gusts may bring additional weak rooted trees down.
