Celtic Women will mark their first ever Champions League group stage campaign by hosting Chelsea at Parkhead in November.
After defeating Ukrainian team Vorskla Poltava 3-0 in the play-off round, Elena Sadiuk’s side have been drawn alongside FC Twente, Real Madrid and Chelsea in Group B. The Hoops will welcome Dutch outfit Twente to Hamilton Accies’ New Douglas Park in their group opener on Tuesday, October 8 before travelling to Madrid on matchday two nine days later.
And on Wednesday, November 8, Chelsea will make the trip to Parkhead to face Celtic in what promises to be an electric occasion in Glasgow. The Celts then play the return group fixtures with an away match against the Blues on Wednesday November 20, a home clash with Madrid on Wednesday, December 11 and a trip to the Netherlands to face FC Twente on Tuesday, December 17.
The news comes as the club also announced that they have struck an agreement to play Celtic FC Women’s home games at New Douglas Park going forward. Celtic claimed a 2-0 victory against Vorskla at Airdrie’s Excelsior Stadium last Thursday but the club have now announced that Hamilton’s home has met the requirements to host European matches by UEFA.
