Amanda Holden was left stunned after she received some unconventional advice ahead of her charity bike ride next month, in aid of Global’s Make Some Noise campaign.
In a bid to raise money for charities across the UK, the Heart Radio star will embark on a mammoth 250 miles from her mother’s house in Cornwall’s Bude to London’s Leicester Square across five days.
After the big news broke on the breakfast show, Amanda and her co-host JK read out messages from listeners loaded with advice and good wishes.
However, when a particular tip recommending bum butter came through, the presenter seemed shocked.
“Oh, this in interesting,” she remarked. “Ian has just texted, ‘Amanda, get yourself some bum butter, you’ll need it’,” reports the Express. “That’s not a phrase I thought I’d be saying this morning.”
JK chimed in to say that just last week Dan Walker, the former BBC Breakfast host, had also advised using the same cream.
Lost for words, Amanda added: “I need to make sure I’m… well I can’t use any words so I’m not going to, I’m just going to get some.”
“Saddle-ready, that’s what we’re using,” JK added. “That’s the best word to use, I’m looking to my left at the lawyer who’s hand is touching my shoulder… saddle-ready is the phrase to use.”
Bum butter is a cyclist’s go-to antiseptic cream for combating saddle sores, particularly during long journeys.
Dan will also undertake a gruelling Coast to Coast cycling challenge, traversing 200 miles across the UK through Yorkshire over the span of 48 hours.
In a statement, he shared: “I’m ready to take on the Coast to Coast Challenge for an incredible cause Global’s Make Some Noise because I know how they support so many projects and small charities who are changing lives across the UK.
He continued: “I am a cyclist but my trips are normally down to the train station or 10 minutes across town so this challenge is really going to push me to the limits.
“Relishing the upcoming journey, Dan added: “I am looking forward to the stunning scenery, but I know it’s going to be a tough 48 hours, so I’ll be relying on the loyal Classic FM listeners to support and encourage me along the way!”.
