The family of an Ayrshire gran killed in a horror smash have said she was the glue that kept them together.

Lesley McTear was the passenger in a two-vehicle crash on Monday, September 23 at around 3.10am on the A737 near Howwood.

The married Dreghorn mum and gran was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision between a Mercedes A-class car and a MAN box van. A number of calls around that time also reported six horses running loose on the A737.

Emergency services, including police and the the Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to the scene where the 59-year-old Ayrshire woman was fatally injured.

Her family has paid the following tribute to her: “Lesley was a loving wife, mother, grandma and daughter in law. As a family, we are deeply saddened by the events that have caused such a void in our family.

“Lesley was the glue that kept us all together and anyone who was lucky enough to know Lesley was showered by her unconditional love.”

Sergeant Jack Swindells said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and everyone involved.

“Our enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can assist with our investigation who has not already spoken to officers is asked to get in touch.”
