PEARISBURG, Va. – After the flooding that impacted much of Giles County, one church is doing what they can to give to those in need of help and those who are helping them as well.

After their Sunday service, the congregation of the Pearisburg Church of God provide a ministry of service to their community by distributing meals and bottled water to people in need of help. They also invited police, firemen, EMS, and even the linemen working to restore the power in the area to join them as well.

The resources were taken to people in Pembroke, Eggleston, Rich Creek, and Narrows, and were given to those who stopped by their Pearisburg church. We spoke to one member of the church who says she doesn’t know the number of people they’ve impacted Sunday. However, she says the work they’re doing is important, and God knows the number.

“We may not be in the devastation, but we are a part of the devastation, the whole community is, and we’re God’s hands to give back to others that need,” says Sherry Pagan, a member of the Pearisburg Church of God.

Pagan says those still in need of help can reach out to the church, adding they will do anything they can.
