Outlander fans have been left feeling emotional, as the hit Starz show has finally hit the clapperboards on the programme after eight seasons on the small screen.
Based on award-winning author Diana Gabaldon‘s book series, the historical romance show amassed a strong legion of fans across the globe over the height of its success. Taking to social media, cast and crew members rasied a tipple to the end of an era for Outlander.
Scots lead actor Sam Heughan, who plays leading role of Highland warrior Jamie Fraser, was among those celebrating in Glasgow at the wrap party alongside other stars – including Sophie Skelton (Brianna Fraser) Lauren Lyle (Marsali Fraser) and Charles Vandervaart, who played Jamie’s son William.
Davie Hollywood, part of the crew undertaking the hard work behind the scenes, took to Instagram to publish a couple of snaps from the booze-filled celebrations, which were marked with an equal weight of bitter sweetness.
“To the guys that feed us all season, thanks guys #outlander,” he wrote alongside a photo of some of the crew members joining in with the celebrations, which was hosted at Platform in Glasgow.
He added: “That’s a wrap #outlander,” in another post alongside Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Lauren Lyle and Charles Vandervaart who were all beaming for the camera.

Fans soon took to the comments to share their sadness at Outlander being over. One wrote, “So sad I’m going to miss outlander it’s my favourite show wish it could go on and on.”
Another penned: “can’t help it tears just coming…all us the fans had so much fun while waiting for a new season of Outlander….Droughtlander was terrible , as we always said better wait a year for a new season than having nothing to wait for.”
Someone else added, “Can’t wait to see it! End of an era!,” alongside broken heart emojis. “Thanks for sharing. Love you guys. This show will live on forever,” another fan quipped with crying and broken heart emojis.
