ROUND ROCK, Texas — Round Rock is getting ready to make major improvements to Old Settlers Park.
The changes are part of a bond package approved by voters in May 2023 and include an expansion of the Rock N’ River water park, a new rec center, pickle ball and tennis courts and a track.
“This is going to be one of those endeavors that takes us well into the future. We know right now, we see two million visitors annually that come through our park. We know that as our community continues to grow, that two million will soon be three million-plus, and we have to the infrastructure to support that,” said Rick Atkins, the director of Round Rock’s Parks and Recreation Department.
Crews will be working on this project over the next three years, with everything expected to be completed within that timeframe.
“We are going to moving in phases,” Atkins said. “That’s because we want to keep the park open.”
Cindy Bruan lives in Round Rock and uses the park often. She said she is excited for some of the additions coming.
“I like pickleball and [I] like lazy rivers, so it will be interesting,” she said.
