Police found cannabis and more than £8000 in cash when they stopped a vehicle in Motherwell.

Garry Park, 61, of Rannoch Drive, Pather, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

He admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis on December 15 last year.

The court heard police officers had reason to stop the car about 8pm.

They detected a smell of cannabis and detained Park for a search.

Two vacuum bags containing cannabis worth a total of £6500 were found in the passenger seat footwell.

The officers also seized two mobile phones and £8450 in cash.

Sentence on Park was deferred until November for background reports and an electronic tagging assessment.
