St Andrew’s Hospice has hailed its inaugural St Andrew’s in the City ladies’ event as a “resounding success”.
Held at the iconic Voco Grand Central in Glasgow, and generously sponsored by The Ellen Kane Trust, guests helped to raise an incredible £34,563 in support of patient care at the Airdrie hospice.
The event was hosted by ever-charismatic Coatbridge performer Edward Reid and featured a special appearance from Airdrie musician Nathan Evans.
Sea-shanty singer Nathan also had a surprise in store for the audience as he welcomed Lanarkshire band Saint Phnx on stage.
Additional performances from Crookysax and Esosa Max-Who added to the afternoon’s electric atmosphere, creating “unforgettable moments for all in attendance”.
Guests were also reminded of the critical work the hospice does with an emotional speech from guest speaker Nicola Valbonesi.
Nicola shared the moving story of her identical twin sister Kerry, who was cared for with compassion by the hospice before she sadly passed away, aged just 35.
Louise O’Donnell, deputy head of fundraising at the hospice, told Lanarkshire Live: ” We were so pleased that everyone who attended had a wonderful time and that they raised such an incredible amount to support local people who need hospice care.
“Thank you so much to everyone who made the event such a success, and especially to Nathan and Saint Phnx for giving up their time to help the hospice.”
