Clyde boss Ian McCall reckons the acid test for his side will come at home to Spartans on Saturday, after fighting back to draw 2-2 at Peterhead on Saturday.
Peterhead were knocked off the top of League Two as East Fife beat Spartans while the Bully Wee took a point from Balmoor.
Ryan Strachan gave the Blue Toon the lead in 43 minutes as he headed in a Dylan Forrest corner, but Marley Redfern won a penalty for Clyde in 58 minutes, which was confidently dispatched by Logan Dunachie.
Clyde keeper Robbie Hemfrey saved a Peter Pawlett penalty in 65 minutes after Seb Ross was fouled in the box. Max Barry restored Peterhead’s lead in 70 minutes, from a Cieran Dunne cross. But Jordan Allan bagged his second goal of the season to rescue a point with nine minutes left.
That left Clyde in eighth place, and McCall reckons a New Douglas Park win over sixth-placed Spartans would confirm a revival that could put the Bully Wee in mid-table.
McCall told the club’s website: “We’re slowly starting to turn things, and the acid test will be next week, when we’ve got to take three points at home.
“This type of run, if we can manage to pull off a win next week, then all of a sudden we’re four unbeaten, you’ve won one of them, and things are turning a wee bit.
“We’ve given ourselves it all to do, but let’s see where we are in the half-way stage in the season.”
McCall was pleased with his side’s willingness to dig in for a point. He said: “Peterhead are one of the better teams in the league who I think will be up there.
“I was really pleased, I thought the attitude of the substitutes was fantastic. Again, one or two decisions went against us and affected us – we saved the penalty, mind you, it was a good save by Robbie, but I thought our endeavour was good and we can play.
“We’re still waiting on Jordan Houston to look like the player I know he is, and there are still players who are looking to hit their top form, but we’re starting to get there.
“It was great for Jordan Allan, though we’re still waiting on him to really click, to be the player he was last season. Hopefully that will give him a lot of confidence, and that will be the same for a few of the players.”
Meanwhile, Clyde have been drawn away to Elgin in round two of the Scottish Cup. The tie is due to be played on the weekend of October 26.
