ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – One of Roanoke’s historic locomotives was on the move Monday.

The 1118 is a Norfolk and Western M2 Class steam engine, built in 1910.

Owned by the Roanoke Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, it has been parked in a yard at the Riverdale complex in southeast Roanoke for about 15 years.

The chapter recently moved the rest of its rolling stock to another property in the city. On Monday, a crew from Lynchburg Crane Service lifted the engine onto a flatbed trailer for the trip to its new home.
