A teenage girl has been left with horrifying injuries following an alleged acid attack her school which saw another pupil and a member of staff injured.

Police raced to Westminster Academy in central London after receiving reports that an “acidic” substance had been thrown at students and a staff member, says The Mirror.

Yesterday’s attack saw a 14 year old girl, 16 year old boy and a 27 year old woman injured during the attack.

As a precaution, two police officers were taken to hospital following reports that they were feeling unwell.

The young girl is reportedly suffering from potentially life changing injuries as multiple crime scenes have been put in place.

The boy, also hospitalised, has injuries that are not said to be life-threatening. The woman has since been discharged.

Scotland Yard said: “Tests of the substance are ongoing. At this stage officers believe it to be acidic. Urgent enquiries are under way to identify and arrest those responsible.”

According to the school’s website, the premises is closed this morning. It states: “Due to unforeseen circumstances the WA school site will be closed on Tuesday 1st October.

Students will resume lessons through online learning. Information will be shared with them via Google Classroom through their teachers. Thank you for your understanding.”
