Dr Clare Bailey, the wife of late TV health guru Dr Michael Mosley, has shared two breakfast foods she believes could keep people from snacking, and therefore aid weight loss. Dr Bailey worked with her late husband on a number of his popular books, including the Fast 800, and is also very much an expert in her own right.
She recently said she is “slowly but surely” beginning to share more health and food content on social media. The doctor added: “Not only is it important to me to continue to carry forward Michael’s legacy, but even in his absence, it’s a huge part of my life.”
Dr Mosley is best known for his dieting advice centred around fasting, with his 5:2 and Fast 800 plans credited by many for helping them lose weight and transforming their health. While discussing the Fast 800 method, Dr Bailey recently told her 213,000 Instagram followers about the benefits of protein.
She said: “Protein is a health all-rounder, essential for rest, repair, maintaining muscle mass, and reducing your risk of chronic illnesses like osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease. Studies have also shown that it does wonders for weight loss, as it increases satiety, and can help to prevent weight regain. I recommend eating at least 60g of protein every day to ensure you’re optimally nourished.”
Dr Bailey went on to explain her four “easy” tips to introduce more protein into your diet, adding: “If you’re not getting enough protein, you’ll be feeling hungry all the time”, and therefore more likely to reach for snacks. One thing she suggested is to make sure you eat a protein-rich breakfast.
Two foods in particular the doctor recommends are eggs and smoked salmon, as these are likely to keep you feeling fuller throughout the morning. She also added that if you are to eat yoghurt, you should opt for Greek yoghurt as this has more protein than other versions.
Dr Clare went on to say that you should be having protein in every meal and that a great way to get extra protein is to use the Fast 800 protein shakes. She added: “Obviously real food is best, but that’s an easy way of topping up your protein.”
