Tom Kerridge has opened up about his struggles with weight loss, after eating 162 pies in just one week.
The TV chef, 51, once weighed 30 stone, but decided to lose a huge amount after turning 40.
At the time, he gave up alcohol and embarked on a dopamine diet, losing 12 stone.
He’s now spoken about the difficulty he’s faced in keeping the weight off, especially considering his occupation.
Appearing on Lorraine today, Tom explained how hard it was when his ‘world is food’.
He told ITV host Lorraine Kelly: ‘We’ve got a whole new range of stuff that’s come out in Marks & Spencer at the minute, and we went through this whole process of doing pies.
‘There was one week where I ate 162 pies.’
‘It sounds like a dream, and it was a dream, but it is your job,’ he went on.
Speaking about his current exercise routine, he continued: ‘I try and change things up, so I went through a period of swimming, I swam a mile everyday and you become long and stretched out and thin, and then I changed that up.
‘Now I like lifting heavy things up off the floor so you get bigger, and I try to go to the gym five or six times a week, I swap it up with a bit of cardio, I like lifting things up.’
In 2020, Tom took part in BBC reality series Lose Weight and Get Fit with Tom Kerridge, where he saw his weight had crept up to 22 stone.
Tom also discovered that the percentage of body fat around his organs was double the recommended level, putting him at high risk of heart disease.
‘That’s a shock,’ he commented after he saw his results. ‘I did not think I was in danger.’
‘A few years ago I lost a load of weight but lately, it’s started creeping back on again,’ he said on the show.
‘We can make all the excuses in the world but the scales don’t lie. I’ve been eating all the pies.’
