ROANOKE, Va. (WDBJ) – Hurricane Helene proved deadly, killing two people here in western Virginia.

Monday night, a moment of silence offered an opportunity to remember one of those victims, who we now know was a Montgomery County teacher.

Holly King lived in Craig County, but she was a special education teacher at Eastern Montgomery High School.

She was remembered on social media for “her constant kindness and beautiful smile.”

Monday night, the junior varsity and varsity volleyball teams from Eastern Montgomery played at Roanoke Catholic School.

Green was King’s favorite color, and members of the Roanoke Catholic team and supporters of both schools wore green in her honor.
