The summer holidays saw the West Kirk & Polbeth Harwood churches celebrate their tenth holiday club.

The popular club for children of primary school age is held every year in Polbeth Harwood church.

And organisers said it was What “a delight” to welcome lots of new children to the holiday club and to also welcome back, some familiar faces.

A spokesperson said: “It really was a week to remember, with a record 74 children joining us for an action packed week and some great adventures at Rocky’s Plaice (our fish & chip shop), with bible stories, slapstick comedy in the daily drama, outdoor games and fun, crafts, food decoration and messy challenges. A great time was had by all!

“It takes a great deal of planning and a great team of adult volunteers to run such an event, and, with a team of just over 40 helpers, which included 14 youth helpers aged between thirteen and eighteen this made for a great combination of youth and experience.

“Many new friendships were bonded between adults, children, parents and carers.

“In a time when we hear so much worrying news about closures of churches in Scotland at the moment, it is great to be sharing some really positive news of events taking place in our local churches.

“We would also like to extend our most sincere thanks to everyone who supported us behind the scenes through time, donations and funding allowing us to continue to run this club at no cost to the parents/carers, so no child is excluded due to cost.
