Amazon users looking to keep warm through winter have been praising a nifty heating trick that they are calling “energy saving brilliance.”
With the looming colder weather and the recent energy price cap, many households will be debating whether or not to pop on the heating. Fortunately, there are a few DIY tips that can help you make the most of your heating.
One of them is to install some radiator reflective foil, such as this roll from Fabian Clarke Heating & Home. Costing £17.99 for a 5m x 60cm insulation roll, this foil claims to be able to “reduce heat loss by up to 90 percent.”
The radiator foil works to maximise the heat output by reflecting it back into the home, preventing it from escaping through the walls. With enough to cover up to five 100m radiators in the home, you can use it in multiple rooms in the household.
They are also “easy to install”, as you can simply cut your desired length and slide into the back of the radiator, with sticky panels to keep it in place. Designed to be durable, reviews say that it’s a trick that “really does work”.
Averaging a 4.4 rating on Amazon where it has been singled out as a ‘choice’ product, this radiator reflective foil has been used by shoppers who have called it a “tried and tested method” that has helped them to “save on heating bills.”
One five-star review read: “Energy saving brilliance. I was recommended this product and very pleased with the results. I used the product mostly on outside walls in our semi and noticed an immediate increase in the effectiveness of the radiators – which pleased the wife too!”

Someone else wrote: “With the rise in energy bills as well as everything else I feel it is important to try and reduce costs where possible. This is a tried and tested method of fitting behind radiators to reflect the heat back into the room. I have used this in our previous house with great success so I had no hesitation doing it again. The foil reflects the heat back into the room rather than heated the wall.”
Another review praised: “This radiator stuff is brill it shoots out more heat really glad I brought it had to turn heat down after a while.”
One other glowing review read: “Did not expect this to work as well as it did. Easily cut to size and applied, works really well, saving on heating bills.”
A few reviews have found that the sticky panels to keep the foil in place are not the best, as one wrote: “The sticky pads are not very good. It keeps coming away from the wall so I’m going to have to buy some pads to restick it onto the wall. I have had to use all pads that came with it and I have only done two radiators so far.”
