Jay Blades has taken to hosting an unusual late-night DJ session online, a stark contrast to the seven million viewers used to catching him on the popular series The Repair Shop. Currently out of the public eye due to charges involving controlling and coercive behaviour towards his 43 year old estranged wife Lisa Zbozen, Blades appears to be finding solace in music.

During the live-streamed DJ set around midnight, the likable presenter was seen raising his arms high and chatting warmly with a handful of viewers. Dressed in his familiar black jumper and signature glasses, he introduced himself as Jay Blades MBE.

A viewer commented: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw he was online doing a session – it’s a website called MixCloud which DJs use. He seemed like a guy without a care in the world, and looked like he was having a few drinks and he was dancing away on his own – maybe that is helping to get him through. At the end he said he’d be back online soon and asked viewers to keep an eye on his channels for updates about it.”

In an odd twist during the broadcast, he broke away to a still image from one of his highly acclaimed TV projects – a unique programme featuring Judi Dench, displaying both celebrities together. This online activity comes amidst news of Blade’s television projects being put on hold by networks following his charge.

And it seems even the BBC is likely to cancel the festive edition of The Repair Shop, reports the Mirror.

Channel 5 have decided to put a halt on the documentary series that Blades was working on, titled A Country House Through Time. Furthermore, Channel 4 have confirmed they will not be producing a follow-up to his recent travelogue with Dame Judi Dench, The Odd Couple.

Blades has been the presenter of The Repair Shop for seven years. His estranged wife shared a post on Instagram on May 2 announcing the end of their 18-month marriage.

An investigation was initiated by West Mercia Police the following day. Blades has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Worcester crown court on October 11. His spokeswoman chose not to comment.
