An amateur drone operator made a spine-chilling discovery after capturing footage of an abandoned Glasgow school. Martin Monaghan headed to the desolate confines of Golfhill Public School in the east end to create some video content.

And while the video footage didn’t appear to capture anything out of the ordinary, Martin later found a spooky image on his SD card. The eerie image, taken in one of the rubble-filled rooms, shows what looks to be the silhouette of a woman glancing away from the lens.

On closer inspection, the faint outline of an arm clad in white, complemented by long, dark hair, becomes apparent. A stunned Martin quickly shared the creepy photo on social media.

Monaghan said that he had taken two snapshots at different heights alongside a single video clip. The first image appeared mundane but the second shot appeared to expose the spectral form.

The amateur snapper has been left hoping that someone with more photography experience might be able to explain the ‘white lady’. He told Glasgow Live: “Whilst filming an open window trying to get a look inside the old Golfhill school I was shocked to see an eerie apparition in the second photo I took. The more I look at the photo the more freaked out I am.”

“The photo appears like this in my SD card file format. The video file had no apparition.”

Many viewers online were spooked by the image, suggesting that it looked like a lady or young girl with dark hair. One person even joked they could see “a huge pigeon”.

However, some argued it could be dust on the camera lens or simply pareidolia – a psychological phenomenon that causes people to see patterns or meaning in random images, even when there are none.

The old Golfhill Public School, a three-storey building that has stood empty since 2007, is frequently discussed on social media due to rumours that it’s haunted by a young girl roaming its corridors.

This isn’t the first eerie sighting at the school; Martin once captured what seemed to be a ghostly pale face peering out of a window. Whether this will be the last ghostly encounter at Golfhill remains to be seen.
