Laura Hamilton, the host of A Place in the Sun, couldn’t hide her dismay in the latest show, exclaiming, “Oh no” as she sensed her clients’ dissatisfaction.
Wednesday (October 2) saw a riveting new episode of the hit Channel 4 property series with Laura steering the ship. This week, sisters Sheila and Jean were reliant on Laura to find their dream holiday home in Malaga, with expectations of two bedrooms and a grand balcony high on their list.
However, the first abode on the itinerary left Jean and Shelia feeling underwhelmed. Observing their lacklustre response, Laura remarked, “Oh no! The face says it all!”
The pair scrutinised the room and united in their opinion that it felt “was a bit dated”. They had further gripes too; notably, the main living area lacked the space they needed for a dining table, and the sought-after large balcony was disappointingly petite.
In defence, Laura suggested the possibly unnecessary indoor dining given the option to dine alfresco, reports the Mirror.
Later in the programme, Laura offered some realism to viewers, pointing out, “If you want a roof terrace or outside balcony, something will have to give.”
With a budget of £120,000, Sheila and Jean’s financial limit seemed somewhat optimistic to the audience, especially for the desired location.
One disgruntled viewer took to social media platform X, venting: “Stop moaning about what the apartment doesn’t have and start thinking about your minuscule budget…. Or look for something further north where your money goes considerably further.”
Another chimed in with: “Don’t think they’re getting that their budget isn’t going to get all their wants.”
At the end of the episode, Laura had a heart-to-heart with the sisters to find out if any of the five properties they viewed tickled their fancy.
Regrettably, despite house number four catching their eye, Shelia and Jean chose not to place an offer on any of the properties. A visibly disappointed Laura confessed her feelings.
Viewers at home echoed her sentiment. One irate fan blasted: “What a total waste of an hour of our time. While another remarked: “Pair of time wasters.”
