Lorraine Kelly has shared that her chat show has been ‘hijacked’ as she marks an impressive 40 years in television.

The Scottish host, 64, is set to be honoured with a special ITV documentary celebrating her four decades in the British TV industry.

Before her self-titled ITV programme, Lorraine joined Susanna Reid and Ed Balls on Good Morning Britain and confessed she’s clueless about what the day’s show will entail.

Ed began by wishing her: “Enjoy your special Lorraine today.” To which Lorraine responded: “You know I come on here and tell you what is happening, I can’t tell you what is happening because I’ve got no idea. I have no idea what is happening in the show today.”, reports the Mirror.

When Susanna queried: “Has your programme been hijacked? ” Lorraine affirmed: “Yes, it’s been hijacked by two very special women.”

Intrigued, Susanna probed further: “Oh. Do you know who it is? ” Lorraine disclosed: “Yes Ranvir and Christine. They are in charge.”

Despite such a storied career, this year may well be Lorraine’s best yet, having received a special accolade at the 2024 BAFTA TV Awards, published her debut novel, and embraced her new role as a grandmother.

ITV audiences can delve into her 40-year journey in television with the documentary “Lorraine Kelly: 40 Unforgettable Years” broadcasting tonight (October 2) at 9pm.

Complimenting Lorraine, Susanna remarked: “You don’t just appear on screen and blend in, you really land a punch.” Lorraine responded, “Sometimes when needed but not all the time but how lovely that I’m on a show where I can do that, it’s such a privilege.”

Susanna concurred, “It is such a privilege to do what we do,” acknowledging Lorraine’s 40 years in broadcasting. Ed chimed in with praise, “You really are generous as an interviewer and I’ve been interviewed by you.”

He elaborated, “You are generous and you really do care but you’re also tough.” Lorraine admitted, “Sometimes you have to be and it depends who it is..”

Before she could finish, Ed interjected, “Like Nigel Farage”. To which Lorraine humorously remarked, “I can see you separated us. That was very wise.” The studio erupted into laughter as she quipped, “I think he has left the building.”
