A frantic search has been launched in an effort to trace a man in a wheelchair who vanished from a train station in a Scots town. Mark Armit was last seen at Ayr train station at around 10.20am on Tuesday, October 1, and could have travelled to Glasgow but that has not been confirmed.
The Irvine man, 62, is described by police as being around 5ft 7ins with brown hair and blue eyes. When last seen Mark was wearing a dark grey hooded fleece over a navy and white grey top, grey jogging bottoms and black trainers with a white sole.
Officers say although Mark has access to a wheelchair, he can walk unaided with poor mobility. Police Scotland urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to come forward.
A spokesperson for the force said: “Extensive enquiries are underway which have so far revealed a confirmed sighting of Mark on platform 4, Ayr train station, about 10:20am on Tuesday 1 October 2024. Mark has given suggestion he may have travelled to Glasgow, but this is not confirmed.
“If anyone has seen Mark or has any information or knowledge as to his whereabouts, please contact Irvine Police office on the police non-emergency number, 101. Reference PS-20241001-1209.”
