F1 legend Michael Schumacher might soon be in attendance at another family wedding following reports of his first public appearance in close to 11 years.
It’s believed that the seven-time Formula One world champion was present for his daughter Gina’s wedding to Iain Bethke. The couple exchanged vows at the Schumacher’s opulent Majorca villa, located near the plush area of Port d’Andratx.
The 55-year-old was critically injured while skiing in Grenoble back in December 2013, resulting in severe brain damage. He spent several months in a coma induced by doctors before being transported back to his Lake Geneva residence in Switzerland during September 2014, where he continues to receive care from his devoted wife Corinna and a dedicated medical team.
The family has consistently decided against disclosing any details regarding his health status. Nevertheless, it is alleged that Schumacher was able to witness his daughter’s private nuptials.
Phone use was restricted at the event, with guests instructed to leave their mobile devices at the entrance, and as per the Majorcan news source Ultima Hora, the ceremony was approximately 30 minutes in duration, reports the Express.
Although the press was barred from the matrimonial event, Gina took to social media to share a photo of herself with her new spouse post-ceremony, captioning the image: “Forever yes to you, yes forever.”
Adding to the Schumacher family celebrations, another wedding appears to be on the horizon, with Michael and Corrina’s son, Mick Schumacher, having recently proposed to his long-term partner, Laila Hasanovic, over the past weekend.
Over the weekend, the lingerie model took to Instagram to flaunt a photo of a ring adorning her finger, captioning it with the cryptic message: “Then it’s game over.”

Mick, 25, who has yet to make any social media revelations about the engagement, was present during his father’s skiing accident in the French Alps. It wasn’t until March 2017 that he publicly acknowledged his father’s profound impact on him, fondly referring to him as his ‘idol’ and ‘role model’.
But contrastingly, his recent joyous personal developments aren’t mirrored in his professional life. Released by Haas in 2022, Mick has since taken up a role as a reserve driver for Mercedes and appears likely to miss out on a top-tier driving position in 2025.
Despite being considered for a slot at Sauber alongside fellow German racer Nico Hulkenberg, it seems Mick is no longer in the running. Matt Binotto, chief technical officer, has hinted that Valtteri Bottas is more likely to have his contract extended, sidelining Schumacher from current contention.
