If you’re looking to keep costs down at Christmas, Tesco’s Clubcard Christmas Savers scheme is one way to do it.
The supermarket giant’s loyalty programme allows you to save up your Clubcard points throughout the year, which you then get during your November statement, to use at Christmas time.
Last year, Brits spent an average of of £1,811.70 on Christmas – the equivalent to 25 days’ average pay – so getting those points during the festive period can seriously help with spiralling budgets.
As well as banking points, the scheme allows you to top up your account with your own cash, to a maximum of £360. If you reach over £25, Tesco gives shoppers a bonus in the form of Tesco vouchers.
But the deadline to top up your account is looming. You need to have added in cash by 11.59pm on October 17, in order to opt in for the freebie vouchers. That means shoppers have just days to get involved.
If you save between £25 and £49.50, you’ll get £1.50 in vouchers. Top up over £50 and you get £3, over £100 is £6, and over £200 it’s £12.
Clubcard vouchers and top-up vouchers are valid for two years, and the bonus vouchers you receive from Tesco are valid for three months.
If you want to opt in, you can top up on the Tesco website or through the Tesco app, but not in stores.
A Tesco spokesperson said: ‘Our Clubcard Christmas Savers scheme helps customers to save their Clubcard vouchers throughout the year so they can use them for their big Christmas shop.
‘Customers can now top-up their Christmas Savers account online, and manage their account through our website or app, making it easier than ever to earn bonus vouchers to spend at Tesco.’
The news comes after Tesco delighted fans of its F&F range, by making a major change to its clothing offering for the first time in six years.
Customers will now reportedly be able to order clothes from the F&F range directly through Tesco online, just like the old days.
According to Drapers, the clothing ranges will form part of the Tesco Marketplace, which was rolled out in June and features 9,000 products spanning the realms of homeware, toys and DIY.
So, if you’ve got any fashionistas that you’re buying for this Christmas, it just got a whole lot easier to buy their presents – no jostling through the Christmas shopping crowds necessary.
